Explore Ely and find out what is happening during Heritage week in September

Explore and enjoy the beautiful city of Ely on a guided walk led by one of our professionally trained Guides. Marvel at the artworks connected to the City’s Eel heritage on our Eel Walk, experience Ely’s captivating riverside on our Riverside Walk or uncover its history and splendid array of medieval paths and monastic buildings on our City or Architecture Walks. 

You can also book on to one of our heritage tours which form part of the heritage week, in September, in Ely.

Friday 10th – Open Evening Oliver Cromwell House and tastings in Mrs Cromwell’s Kitchen. 6 pm – 8 pm, try some mead and other 17th Century delights

Saturday 11th  – Living History Actors/outside Oliver Cromwell’s House, cooking and talking about food. From 10 am – 5 pm

Architectural Tour of Ely – Depart 11 am Oliver Cromwell’s House

City Tour of Ely – Depart 2 pm Oliver Cromwell’s House

Sunday 12th – Architectural Tour of Ely – Depart 11 am Oliver Cromwell’s House

City of Ely Tour – Depart 2 pm Oliver Cromwell’s House

Monday 13th – City of Ely Tour – 11 am

Tuesday 14th – Mrs Cromwell’s Kitchen – food tastings and discussions about heritage of food in the 17th Century. 11 am and 2pm

Weds 15th –  Monastic Tour 11 am

Thursday 16th – Sessions House tours

Friday 17th – Evening opening of the Cathedral 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm

6.45 pm West Tower Tour booking direct

6.45 pm Octagon Tour – as above

Open Evening of the Stained Glass Museum 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm – booking direct

Saturday 18th – A Monastic Trail through Ely Cathedral – ‘Food, Feasting and Fasting in a Medieval Monastery’

Visit the Pilgrims camp in the grounds of the Cathedral with Medieval cooking demonstrations at 12noon and 3.00 pm

Tours of the Monastic precinct 11.30 am/2.30 pm (please contact Ely Cathedral)

Sunday 19th – A tour of the Monastic Precinct at 2.30 pm (please contact Ely Cathedral)
