Step back in time to medieval Peterborough at the fascinating Longthorpe Tower Living History re-enactment tours this coming weekend: Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April.
Not only will you discover some of the finest examples of medieval domestic wall paintings in northern Europe right here in Peterborough – but you can experience a flavour of medieval life with costumed guides from the Medieval Sokemen Living History Group. Book a 1.5 hour tour at Longthorpe Tower over the weekend and let these knowledgeable guides bring the 15th Century to life.
The experienced costumed interpreters will share the remarkable story of the house and its décor and explain about daily life in the 1400s. Discover the food, clothing, medicine, arms, and armour and meet costumed characters such as the Lady of the Manor, a monk, a barber-surgeon, and soldiers. An artist will be demonstrating medieval painting techniques and period food and spices will be on display to help create a real snapshot of daily life during this period.
Tours run at 10am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday at £8 per person. To find out more, and book your tickets, please visit: Longthorpe Tower Living History Event
